Competition for Professional Photographers

Photomonth in Krakow and sittcomm.sk invites you to participate in international competition for professional photographers from Eastern and Central Europe.
Sittcomm.award is one of the most important prizes for photograpers from Eastern and Central Europe (Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine).
It is an amazing opportunity for artists working and born in those territories to be noticed. The idea of the competition was initiated by Roman Babjak and Lucia Nimcova in 2006. Roman is a freelance curator and editor, active in photography, music and the arts. „I felt there was no relevant support for independent artists using photography in Central and Eastern Europe”, he says.
The competition targets professionals, and the criteria doesn’t change over the years. „It is quite broad... but for my part, I am looking for an original idea (also if the idea is suitable for the photographic medium), and a second criteria would be an authentic formal way of expressing the idea”, says Babjak.
In order to take part, please send us:
- one photographic project
- statement about submitted works
- portfolio
- CV
- application form (available at www.award.sittcomm.sk)
The projects will be judged by international Jury. The members of the Jury are:
- Zuzana Flaskova (UK)
- Mira Keratova (CZ)
- Anna Theiss (PL)
- Roman Babjak (SK)
The winner will gain not only an exhibition during the Photomonth in Krakow (May 2011), but also 3.000 EUR. Other finalists will be short-listed and shown on the sittcomm.award website.
This year we are awaiting for your applications until 28 of February.
